Washington Huskies Betting News

The Washington Huskies are coming off of a 45-3 win against the University of North Dakota, after losing 21-16 against #9 Auburn.  However, Rice-Eccles stadium has hosted some major upsets in the past years, including ranked Michigan and Southern California teams. Washington is looking to avoid the upset and win their first divisional game of the season, but it certainly won’t be easy.  Starting quarterback Jake Browning threw two touchdowns and two interceptions in last week’s win against the University of North Dakota, but he has to play better against the Utes. The Utes defense is very tough this year, only allowing 143.5 yards allowed in their last two games combined.  In order for the Huskies to win, they need to step up their passing and rushing offense.  The Washington defense needs to improve as well, especially when against a weaker Utah offense.  The Huskies’ defense has allowed 341 yards in the past two games combined, and when compared to Utah allowing 143.5 yards in the past two games behind, the defense needs to step up.

Utah Utes Betting News

The Utah Utes are coming off of a close 17-6 win against the Northern Illinois Huskies.  The Utah Utes’ defense won that game for them, especially with a pick-six by linebacker Chase Hanson.  Utah will need a similar defensive performance when the Washington Huskies come to Rice-Eccles stadium.  The Utes offense will need to improve in order to win against Washington.  While starting quarterback Tyler Huntley threw four touchdowns against Weber State two weeks ago, last week against the Northern Illinois Huskies he threw 20-31 for 286 yards and zero touchdowns. In order to win against Washington, Huntley has to be a bigger factor for the Utah offense.  The strongest aspect of Utah’s team is their defensive performances.  If the Utah defense can make Jake Browning struggle in the pocket, Utah will make this game extremely close.  Running back Zack Moss had a monster game against Weber State, rushing for 150 yards and a touchdown, and had 66 yards and a touchdown against Northern Illinois.  He will also be a big factor for the Utah offense, especially since the Washington defense has allowed 154 rushing yards in the past two games.

This game is going to be especially closer than expected.  The Utes are a very good team defensively, and the Huskies have future draft pick Jake Browning as their quarterback.  After coming off a close loss against Auburn two weeks ago, however, the Huskies absolutely need to win this game. Washington has a very close edge over Utah as a result, however this game may come down to a single touchdown or field goal.

Pick:  Washington -7
