The Detroit Lions are coming off a loss against the tough Los Angeles Rams, and are last in the NFC North. The Lions held their own for much of the game until late into the game against the Rams. The Lions will be playing on the road for the first time in three weeks. Detroit looks to get that fifth win under first year coach Matt Patricia. Matt has gotten some push back by his players in his first season for making the lions (a dome team) practice outside, in the cold and snowy weather of Detroit. The Lions gunslinger Matthew Stafford has had a rough year thus far. His QBR is 49.5 and ranks 26th in the NFL. He has thrown for 11 interceptions on the year, and at rate he is going it would be his worst year turning the ball over in his career. His completion percentage is up slightly this year, compared to his overall average. The offensive rushing game is lead by the standout rookie Kerryon Johnson. Johnson is averaging 5.4 yards a carry and has 3 touchdowns on the season. His backup is LeGarrette Blount who has 5 touchdowns and only 332 yards on the season. The running back duo is split down the middle almost on carries however Johnson has almost double the yards. Detroit’s defense is near the bottom at giving up points on the year.

The Arizona Cardinals are coming off a big time win over the Green Bay Packers. The Cardinals got their third win on the year and moved up to third in the NFC West Division. The Arizona Cardinals rank last in points, yards, and pass yards. Arizona is second to last in rushing yards. Josh Rosen completed balls to five different receivers last week, for only 149 yards total. Rosen’s QBR is last in the NFL. Last week David Johnson rushed 20 times for 69 yards. However the star last week was Chase Edmonds who rushed five time for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Cardinals defense played well by holding an Aaron Rodgers offense to only 17 points. On the year they are giving up around 25.8 points a game. The Cardinals have a lot of momentum heading into this matchup coming off the big win.

Like the Cardinals to come out early with momentum from last week and hit the Lions in the mouth. However, if the offenses continue to struggle and I am going to take the under here. Matthew Stafford has seen some of the toughest defenses in the NFL the past couple weeks. This week the task will be easier than he’s seen. Stafford will not be elite but he will be good enough to win the game. Rosen and the Cardinals offense will be right around their average points per game at 13. Both defenses will play well however the difference will be the Lions secondary will be better against Rosen, compared to the Cardinals secondary against Matthew Stafford.
