Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers aren’t used to being far off the pace in the NFL playoff race when the calendar hits December, but that’s where they are heading into Sunday’s game at Lambeau Field against the Arizona Cardinals. The Packers have lost four straight road games during a rugged stretch and find themselves probably needing to win out just to have a chance to extend their season. That’s a lot to ask for a team that hasn’t won two straight games all year.
In his latest postgame interview, Aaron Rodgers sounded exhausted but slightly optimistic when speaking on the upcoming games. The Packers haven’t been running the ball as they should and are putting a lot of pressure and responsibility on Rodgers’ shoulders. He is capable but he is getting older. Even though he has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season, Rodgers hasn’t been himself this season. You can attribute that to frustration to coaching or the atmosphere of the team but something is obviously wrong in Green Bay. This week they have a chance to get back on track with what should be win against a Cardinals team that is not looking to win games.
Arizona is 2-9 and are on track to get a top 5 pick in the draft. This has been a showcase season for the Cardinals, they are filled with young promising players, but they are all being evaluated starting with Josh Rosen. Rosen has been so-so in his games this year, but I put a lot of blame on his coaching staff for not letting him off the “leach”. The season is already down the drain let’s see if Rosen can be your quarterback of the future, why are you holding him back? In last week’s game against the Chargers, Rosen only threw the ball 4 times in the second half in a blowout loss. Why is that? I don’t know. The lack of an offensive line could be the answer but you still should let Rosen take his lumps in is first season. All-Pro RB David Johnson hasn’t been himself this season because of play calling in my opinion. So, the Cardinals should make some offensive coaching changes come the offseason. A bright spot has been Christian Kirk who has put up a solid rookie season and is creating great rapport between him and Rosen.
Sunday, the defense will have to step up. The Cardinals rush defense is ranked bottom 3 in the NFL and the pass defense isn’t much better even with the greatness of Patrick Peterson covering half of the field.
Pick: Packers -14, Jones Over 91 Rushing Yards
This game won’t be close. The Packers will come out early to finish the Cardinals. I think they attack the Cardinals by running the ball with Aaron Jones. Currently, Jones’ prop bet for rushing yards sits at 91 yards and I would take the over on that.
