Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens are still in the playoff hunt. They are coming off a victory against the Oakland Raiders. The Ravens are chasing the division-leading Pittsburg Steelers. They have made a change at quarterback. When the season started, they had Joe Flacco at the helm well no more. The Ravens have now turned to first-round draft pick Lamar Jackson. Jackson might just be the spark they need to get over the hump and into the playoffs. The Ravens have always been known for their defense and now they have both. The Ravens are 4-2 on the road which spells well for them heading to Atlanta.

Lamar Jackson is 2-0 as a starter. They are in the top 20 in total offense. They are 11th in rushing. Jackson is a dual-threat quarterback. At Louisville, he used his legs and the Ravens are hoping the same. So far Jackson has rushed for 329 yards. To get those 329 yards it was on 65 carries. He averaged nearly 5 yards a carry. The Ravens are also featuring Alex Collins. Collins has rushed for 411 yards on 114 carries. They rely on the running game. The Ravens are going to use their number one rated defense to hold the Falcons down. The offense and defense of the Ravens will be ready for Sunday afternoon.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are coming into this game after a defeat. They lost to division rival the New Orleans Saints. It has been a rough year for the Falcons. In their last game, they had three turnovers in the red zone which cost them the game. They, unlike the Ravens, are almost out of a playoff spot. The team that they just lost too is on a 10-game winning streak. The Saints only loss came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 1. The Falcons have a tough hill to climb.

The Falcons biggest problem this year has been on defense. They rank 28th overall. Teams that have good offenses like the Saints did it hard for them to win. The Falcons will have to prepare for a dual-threat QB. Jackson may not have use legs against the Falcons. They will prepare for him to run and if he passes the ball and tricks the Falcons. Matt Ryan and the Falcons have the 7th rank offense in the league. The Falcons have Julio Jones and rank 4th in passing. Ryan likes having Jones to throw too. The problem on offense is the run. The Falcons rank dead last in the NFL. When a defense knows what to prepare for it also is hard to win. The Falcons haven’t been balanced and that why they have the record they have. The Ravens have the number one defense in the league it will be hard for the Falcons to score.

The last meeting between these two teams was back in 2015. That meeting would result in a Falcons win 20-19. The Falcons have shot themselves in the foot with turnovers. The Ravens come in with the best defense in the league. The Ravens also have enough offense to give the Falcons fits. The Falcons defense will have issues with the Ravens running game. Lamar Jackson can also go to the air to beat the Falcons. Look for the Ravens to dominate the game right from the start.

My Pick: Ravens +1
