The NFL is back and things just feel right again, doesn’t it? We have an awesome AFC North rivalry during Thursday Night Football between the Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals to kick off week two.
The Cincinnati Bengals enjoyed an exciting start to their 2018 season as they defeated the Indianapolis Colts 34-23. The score was just 27-23 with under 30 seconds to play when safety Clayton Fejedelem, which aside from his 10 tackles on the day, picked up a fumble and took it all the way to the end zone to seal the victory. The trio of QB Andy Dalton (243 passing yds, 2 TD’s), RB Joe Mixon (149 total yds, 1 TD) and WR AJ Green (92 receiving yds, 1 TD) were very productive as well and will be needed heavily if this season is to be successful. Defense was a bit underwhelming against a weak Colts offense. They were able to get an interception on Luck in the first quarter, but he pretty much did what he wanted after that as the Bengals only totalled two sacks on the day. If this offense can stay as hot as they were in the first week they’ll be a tough team to beat more likely than not.
The Baltimore Ravens couldn’t have asked for a better start to their season as they absolutely mauled the Buffalo Bills 47-3. The Ravens defense was the star of the game as they harassed Bills QB Nathan Peterman to the point that the Bills had to take him out for rookie Josh Allen. Peterman isn’t good, but with the way the defense looked it’s hard not to give them credit. They even contained RB Lesean McCoy for 22 yards on seven carries. There was a lot of good from the Ravens offense as well as QB Joe Flacco finished with 236 passing yards on 74% completion and three touchdowns. He was getting the entire team involved as nine different receivers caught a pass and receivers Willie Snead, John Brown and Michael Crabtree each caught a touchdown. In the ground game there wasn’t too much to get excited about as Alex Collins pretty much went silent after his early touchdown in the first quarter. However, three different rushers scored touchdowns, so a RB committee could be in order. Overall, the Ravens look like one of the stronger teams this season.
