The Dallas Cowboys face their biggest opponents to date in the Los Angeles Rams as they hope to make it past the NFC Divisional.
After leading in halftime, then trailing at the end of the third quarter, Dallas barely made it past Seattle 24-22. QB Dak Prescott went 22 for 33 for 226 yards and added a touchdown and interception each. Ezekiel Elliot led the receivers with 26 carries for 137 yards and a TD. Amari Cooper led the receivers with seven receptions for 106 yards. “America’s Team” has won only three playoff games in the last 22 years. In addition, they lost five consecutive Divisional games which explain why they haven’t got to an NFC title game since 1995.
The offense could be without Cole Beasley and Blake Jarwin due to ankle injuries. They haven’t practiced all week. However, Xavier Su’a-Filo returned to practice after dealing with his own ankle injuries.
The Rams clinched the first-round bye and second-seed position before the season ended. This game is important to them as they hope to reach the NFC Championship for the first time since the 2001-2002 season. This is the second consecutive season that the Rams are in the playoffs. Last year marked their first appearance in 12 years. QB Jared Goff and Todd Gurley have been quite the formidible duo, taking the team to an 11-1 record during the season.
Things got tricky last month with losses to the Eagles and Bears that made people question the team offense and defense. However, head coach Sean McVay assured his team was ready for the big fight that would be coming their way. Wade Phillips, the Rams defensive coordinator and former Cowboys head coach, also contributed as he shaped up the defense once again and turned them into an unbreakable force. That will be a big test for the Cowboys offense.
ESPN NFL Over/Under Parlay Los Angeles Rams vs. Dallas Cowboys
This game could come down to the battle between Gurley and Elliot. The only exception is that Gurley hasn’t played in nearly a month due to knee problems, and that could affect the outcome of the game. However, Dallas’s chances of winning will decrease if he does play after all, but the odds of him being in the starting lineup are 50-50. Los Angeles will also have to figure out how to manuever Prescott and Elliot’s teamwork plays. Like Goff and Gurley, they have taken their team pretty far. They can do the same against LA, but their biggest chance to win is if Goff doesn’t have Gurley by his side. The game will be tight between these two teams, so expect the total to be under.
