NFL Picks Oakland Raiders vs Denver Broncos

Welcome to this Week 1 matchup between the Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders. Both these teams come from the AFC West Division. The Denver Broncos were 6-10 in 2018 and finished third in the division. They won three games home and away. They also lost the last four games of the season. The Oakland Raiders were 4-12 in 2018 and finished last in the division. They gave up the most in the AFC with 467 and scored the third lowest total with 290. These teams were 1-1 in the head to head matchup.

The Denver Broncos have a new head coach in Vic Fangio. Denver still has a great defense and it's led by Von Miller. The offense needs to improve this season if they want to compete in this tough division. The Broncos finally have a stable quarterback in Joe Flacco. Throughout his career, his numbers have been okay, but if you make the playoffs, he is one of those guys who gets the job done in January. Flacco will try to throw to a lot of tight end targets because the Raiders defense struggled with covering tight ends last season. Also at times, running back Phillip Lindsay will try to make something out of nothing with some plays and hopefully he will build upon his great rookie season.

The Oakland Raiders recently released Antonio Brown and the move made them go from -2.5 favorites to +3 underdogs. This move will also take away a huge target on offense for the rest of the season. The offensive line has improved for the Raiders and the defense will be better as well, but they still have a lot of work to do. Oakland will try to attack the Denver rush defense because the Broncos struggled in that area last season. With the passing game, the Raiders will try short passes throughout the game because Denver has some good defensive backs. Oakland might struggle with stopping all the rushing depth that Denver has, but can keep this game close if Carr is more consistent than Flacco and the defense makes a few key stops.
