FREE NFL Pick Atlanta Falcons 2019 Win Total
In 2016, the Falcons were the envy of football, with a high powered offense that led the NFL in scoring, the league’s MVP, maybe the best WR in the league in superstar Julio Jones, the league’s sack leader in Vic Beasley, a rising head coach in Dan Quinn, and one of the most well-built teams in football. What happened from there? We don’t have to explain that to you. Unfortunately they are yet to reach those same Super Bowl level hopes, but this team still has potential for a run.
Though their offense today is still insane, some defensive losses have led to their defense becoming one of the worst in the NFL ever since that magical 2016 season, and the D will make or break the Falcons’ season once again in 2019. If the likes of Keanu Neal and Deion Jones can stay healthy this time around, this defense could bounce back, and if the Falcons want to return to the playoffs, the young studs on their defense will need to be a big part of it. (Having Vic Beasley return to 2016 form would be nice too.)
Under 9 wins (-135)
MyBookie.ag’s odds predict that Atlanta will have a winning record in 2019, but it isn’t hard to see why they might not meet those expectations this season. Matt Ryan isn’t getting any younger, and he will be 34 in 2019. Two first round picks on the line will help him, but he won’t be a good passer for too much longer, and one has to wonder when he regresses. The rest of the offense is full of game breaking talent up and down (JULIOOOO JONES), but it will all ride on Matty Ice, even if the offense should be fine.
The defense is the big issue; there were simply so many injuries last year! When Deion Jones went down, their linebacker group was in shambles, and apart from Jones, franchised tagged DT Grady Jarrett, former first-rounders Takk McKinley and Vic Beasley, oft-injured CB Desmond Trufant and Pro Bowl S Keanu Neal, there isn’t much talent on defense, and especially much depth. That lack of depth killed them down the stretch, and it would be the likely cause of their downfall again this year. Not much depth was added in the offseason, and if the injury bug strikes again, the Falcons will be in major strife.
Over 9 wins (+105)
In saying that, there are so many reasons as to why the Falcons could go over 9 wins in 2019. The offense is getting rejuvenated with two new young linemen (Chris Lindstrom and Kaleb McGary) joining what is already a rock-solid line group to make what could be one of the best lines in the NFL, in a move that should help keep Matt Ryan better for longer, and create more space for Devonta Freeman if he returns to good health, which means the offense could be even more explosive this season.
It will all depend on the defense staying upright though; we’ve already talked about the talent they have, but their lack of depth is frightening. ATL just needs a lot of luck on their side. Luckily they do have a great coaching staff and a good HC in Dan Quinn, so if injuries cause the team to fall off a little, the team won’t veer too far off the map. And again, their offense will consistently keep the team in every single game.

The offense will be good once again, and new offensive line pieces ensure that. The defense will be meh, but that’s assuming that most of their main pieces stay upright. But this year, Atlanta plays in a tough decision. New Orleans should be scary again, Carolina are expected to bounce back from a rough ending to 2018, and who knows what goes down in Tampa Bay with Bruce Arians as HC. This is a solid team, but 8-8 seems like reasonable expectations for this squad.
