Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars (10-6) vs Buffalo Bills (9-7)

NFL: Sunday, January 07, 1:05 PM @ Everbank Field

Line: Jacksonville Jaguars -8; Over/Under: 40

The Buffalo Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars will both end decade long playoff droughts Sunday in Everbank Field in the wildcard round of the playoffs.

The Bills had meaningful games up to week 17 as they had to wait to not only win a tough divisional match up on the road in Miami against the Dolphins but also needed help from the Cincinnati Bengals in defeating the Baltimore Ravens as well. Bills fans are now celebrating like it’s 1999 as they reached the playoffs for the fist time in eighteen years. The Bills now face an even tougher opponent on the road against one of the best defenses in the NFL. LeSean McCoy who left the game in Miami after spraining his ankle is going to have to set the tone early for his team to have any success against what has become known as ‘sacksonville.’

The Jacksonville Jaguars did not need any help getting into the playoffs as they secured the 3rd seed as they continued to silence doubters of Jacksonville throughout the season. Jaguars fans will also be celebrating more than other playoffs teams as this marks their first playoff appearance since 2007. Jacksonville’s issue arise with their offense as there is no doubt the Jags will be doing what they have all season long on the defensive side of the ball. However, Jacksonville enters the playoffs following a couple of loses and Leonard Fournette will have to pick up any slack if Blake Bortles plays how he has the past couple of weeks. Optimism among Jags fans is growing however as Bortles is getting back a couple of his weapons back in the form of Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee.

Even if Bortles struggles early for the Jaguars their defense will keep them in the game as long as he needs. With Leonard Fournette on a big stage expect him to set the tone early to give time to Bortles to find his targets down field. McCoy has to be 100% in order to give Taylor and co. a chance at winning this game and the first couple of drives in this game will be crucial to decide how this game turns out for the Bills. Just looking at the performance of the Bills against the Dolphins last week scoring early was their key to success. I think ‘sacksonville’ lives up to it’s name and moves on to face the Steelers in the divisional round.
