NFL Picks Jacksonville Jaguars vs New Orleans Saints
Welcome to this Week 6, NFC South Division vs AFC South Division matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Saints have continued to play well, even without their veteran quarterback Drew Brees. The scoring has been on and off, but the wins are still coming. Last week, New Orleans beat Tampa Bay 31-24. It was a close game the whole time and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went 26 for 34, for 314 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. The Jaguars have been in a good mix of solid games and close contests as well. Their offense seems to be clicking, but the defense has been okay in the last two games. Last week, Jacksonville lost to Carolina 34-27. It was a somewhat close game and the Jaguars kind of play catch up the whole game. Quarterback Gardner Minshew, went 26 for 44, for 374 yards, and two touchdowns. This game should be a toss up and will come down to which hot shot quarterback gets it done on their final drive.
The Saints quarterback became a game manager last week. Those four touchdown passes will skyrocket his confidence and he should be able to find the end zone against an inconsistent Jacksonville defense. Wide receiver Michael Thomas will be a key target again this week. Thomas had tons of yards last week and a couple scores. This team has done well against the spread and their offense is ranked 12th in total points scored. The Saints defense has also picked things up, especially in the passing game. Also, their pass rush may be picking up steam, as they picked up six sacks against Tampa Bay. Look for Bridgewater to build off his best game of the season and the Saints offense will enjoy pushing the ball up the field, on most of their drives.
The Jaguars have been carried by Minshew. However, on Thursday he was put on the injury list for minor groin soreness. If he can’t go on Sunday, then Jacksonville has no chance. The defense has been pretty week and before Minshew had his chance at quarterback, this team really had no starting quarterback that was executing the game plan. However, just like the Saints, this team has been solid against the spread. Also like any rookie quarterback, Minshew can struggle with taking care of the ball. Last week, he fumbled three times under defensive pressure. Since the Saints are awesome at getting to the quarterback, look for running back Leonard Fournette to get more carries and hopefully some good yardage. This team needs to protect their quarterback and good things will happen for their game plan.
NFL Scores New Orleans Saints vs Jacksonville Jaguars
So, who will win this South matchup? It’s nuts that the Saints enter this game as underdogs. New Orleans had to keep their hype up about being a solid football team and doing it without their start qb. It took sometime to get it going, but Bridgewater is now getting more touchdown passes and the Saints offense is clicking again. Also, their defense is making some great strides. The Jacksonville defense has some trouble protecting their young quarterback and this will lead to some turnovers, and some big sacks. They will need Fournette to have a huge game and get some big runs for the Jaguars on broken plays. The Saints running back Alvin Kamara will try his best to win the running back battle because if he can do that, then the Saints win most of the matchups that will lead to another solid win. Saints win 34-20.
