The New Orleans Saints have been red hot as a team up until last week, where they suffered a tough loss against the Dallas Cowboys. The Saints have been the NFC favorite for most of the season. Drew Brees has had an MVP caliber year thus far. Drew set the NFL record for most passing yards in a career this in week 5 this season and has not slowed down at all. Drew’s favorite target this year has been Michael Thomas. Thomas and Brees have had a connection since Mike got drafted by the Saints two years ago. Mike has set a few records so far early in his career as well. With Brees and the Wide Receivers having such a good year you would figure that they would throw the ball a lot. New Orleans also has a two headed monster in the back field with Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram. They call themselves Boom and Zoom. Kamara is one of the best two way running backs in the game. Kamara is 12th in the league with 65 receptions, and he has 5 receiving touchdowns on the year. Alvin’s rushing game on the year is not a slouch by any-means. He has 11 rushing touchdowns and is on pace for a 1000 yard rushing season. Mark Ingram is a little behind on his stats because he was suspended for the first four games this season for violating the leagues substance abuse policy. However he is still averaging 4.8 yards a carry with 5 touchdowns in only eight games. Sean Payton’s New Orleans Saints look to avenge their first loss against the Buccaneers.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off of a good division win against the Carolina Panthers. The Buccaneers are fighting for second place in the NFC South division, with a Quarterback controversy between Jamis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick. Jameis missed the first 3 games of the year because he violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy. In those three games he missed Ryan Fitzpatrick was playing Quarterback at an extremely high level. However the 14 year veteran’s “Fitzmagic” wore out. Jameis came back from his suspension playing flat and not well. So this year it has went back and forth for second year head coach Dirk Koetter. Last week Jameis played up to better standards going 20-30 for 249 yards, and 2 touchdowns in a win. The surprising part about the whole Quarterback problem is the Buccaneers lead the NFL in passing yards per game with 344. The rushing attack is 26th in the league, with leading rusher Peyton Barber carrying the mail. Tampa Bay’s Defense is 3rd worst in the NFL in the points per game category.

The Saints are coming off a tough loss against the Cowboys. The Saints have had 10 days to recover and prepare for the Buccaneers. New Orleans offense struggled against a good Cowboys defense. With all those weapons the Saints have it is hard to keep them all quiet on back to back weeks. With Tampa’s defense giving up around 30 points a game, and New Orleans offense averaging about 35 points a game, look for the Saints to score a lot of points. I just don’t see the Buccaneers’ offense being able to keep up with New Orleans’ offense.
