FREE NFL Pick New York Giants 2019 Win Total
Once one of the NFL’s model organizations, the New York Football Giants have been an embarrassment to the sport in recent years, with a papier-mache offensive line, an aging, mediocre quarterback who the team simply wouldn’t replace (and is going on to a 16th season in the Big Apple), one of the worst coaches in recent memory in derp man Ben McAdoo, GM turmoil, and a fanbase that is slowly turning the lights out on the team.
After trading away Odell Beckham Jr., the man with a super ego and super receiving skills, to Cleveland, the Giants are essentially starting from scratch, with Saquon Barkley and 6th pick from the 2019 NFL Draft Daniel Jones the two building blocks on offense. Considered a reach by many analysts and common fans coming out of Duke, Jones is the future signal caller now for Pat Shurmur’s explosive offensive system, though he shouldn’t be getting much game time anytime soon in 2019.
The teams’ two other first round picks were Dexter Lawrence and Deandre Baker, two outstanding defenders from elite college teams that will help add some youth into 2018’s 24th ranked defense. With +6600 odds to win the Super Bowl, it’s safe to say the Giants are a favourite to finish towards the cellar of the NFL again in what could be Eli Manning’s final season as a Giant, and they will need some effort to get over the +/- total of 6 wins.
Under 6 wins (-130)
Eli Manning last year was the definition of mediocre, putting up an ‘okay’ 21:11 TD:INT ratio, with a career high 66.0% completion rate. That doesn’t look too bad, but he did nothing of note to help the Giants win much, and New York finished with a 5-11 record. Now he is 38 years old and should regress a little (if not a significant amount), and behind him is an unproven rookie quarterback. That sure doesn’t make the team look much better on paper, especially after essentially swapping Odell Beckham Jr. for the older Golden Tate. The OL improved with the trade for Kevin Zeitler, but teams will be stacking the box now to stop Saquon Barkley, and that’s a worry.
The defense was bad last year, and while it should be better this year (See: DLaw and Baker in the draft), it definitely won’t be good enough to carry this team to a surprise playoff berth, and with poor play on both sides of the ball, New York shouldn’t be expecting too much more than what happened last year. There is of course the likelihood of Saquon turning into Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl and rushing for 38984398 yards to bring New York back to relevance, but he will likely have a tougher time in his sophomore year to find space as more pressure is put on him without Odell Beckham, and that’s why the Giants will likely be under 6 wins in 2019.
Over 6 wins (+100)
In saying that, Saquon is likely going to be the reason New York finishes with over 6 wins in 2019 if they do. He is one of the most talented and explosive backs in NFL history, and a rookie season of over 2000 yards from scrimmage is a good sign of what we can expect from him for the next few years. Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard are a solid one-two punch at receiver, and Eli Manning could enjoy a nice little comeback year with these weapons.
The defense should be better, and Pat Shurmur will have had another year to put in his system for the team. And who knows, maybe Daniel Jones becomes the starter and suddenly throws 50 TD’s to vault New York to the playoffs? New York will find issues in 2019, and it would take some herculean efforts for the Giants to hit the over.

New York could be a little better in 2019, or they could be a little worse. This is a young football team that has a couple of studs, but nothing too special out of that. They never do too well, and it will be a couple of years in the cellar for New York before beginning their rise up. You would have to say the under here.
PICK: Under (-130)
