The Dallas Cowboys and NewYork Giants meet Sunday in NFL action at MetLife Stadium.
The New York Giants look to play spoiler to a rival while winning a second home game of the season. The Giants have lost four of their last five home games. Eli Manning, who’d his streak of 201 consecutive NFL starts snapped last week, will be back under center when New York plays host to Dallas. This past Sunday, Manning for all intents and purposes was out; head coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese were in. Now it is Manning who is in; MacAdoo and Reese are out. The Giants fired their second-year coach and longtime manager on Monday. That development came less than 24 hours after they fell to the Raiders 24-17 with Geno Smith under center the whole game. Geno was not terrible; he finished 21-for-34 with 212 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions while also posting 13 rushing yards on three keepers. The Giants initially said that it would go with Smith and Davis Webb in place of Manning to see what they could do both right now and in the future. But Webb got no playing time in Week 12 and now it is Manning who will get back to his starting role.
Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott threw two touchdowns without getting picked off a single time during last Thursday’s 38-14 blowout victory against the Redskins. Prescott had previously turned the ball over eight times in consecutive losses to Atlanta, Philadelphia, and the Chargers. The former Mississippi State standout’s outstanding performance was delivered even though he may have been less than 100 percent due to a minor hand injury. Last game Dallas did a pretty good job. Obviously, they ran the ball a lot, they didn’t throw the ball quite as much as wanted, but Dak made some timely throws in important parts of that game; a big third-down conversion. When Dallas got down to the red zone Prescott made some big throws to cash in on some scores instead of settling for field goals.

The Giants might as well just hit the panic button, and this putting their situation in a mildly term. Manning is back under center and that might help a little, but his confidence has to be a bit shaken following his benching and simply due to his subpar season. Cowboys on other hand, their in playoff contention despite all their own struggles, they should be the more inspired team on Sunday. The Giants have lost 4 out of their last 5 home games and have lost four consecutive against the NFC. Numbers don’t lie, so don’t be surprised if these trends continue.
