NFL Future win Total Over/Under New York Giants

With the 2017-2018 NFL season set to begin in the coming months, we’ll take a look at the New York Giants and what they should be expected to do. It’s usually every year that there are few teams who surprise everyone with either a hot start, a late push, or an all-around consistency of excellence like the Dallas Cowboys showcased last year. In contrast, you’ll see that sometimes the powerhouse favorites of the league don’t live up to expectations ( 2011 Dream Team- Philadelphia Eagles.) While its almost impossible to predict who will be at the forefront of surprises this year, it shouldn’t be a surprise if the Giants do what America’s team did last year during the regular season, as they’re one of the favorites to emerge as a powerhouse.

New York Giants over/under of 9 wins: Under

This past year was the New York Giants first season since 2004 without 2 time Super bowl winning head coach Tom Coughlin at the helm in New York. The Giants went 11-5 only to get knocked out by Aaron Rodgers and company in the opening round of the playoffs. Concerns? The Giants ended up having 2nd easiest schedule in all of football. Based on last year’s teams wins and losses, The Giants are looking at the 8th toughest schedule in the NFL this year.

Even with the addition of Brandon Marshall, and the potential of the Giants receiving core to be deadly, they still haven’t shown the ability to balance their passing game with a consistent running game. The G-men haven’t had a consistent #1 running back in years, and former back Rashad Jennings had been at that forefront. Their defense also calls for some concern, after giving up 38 points in the opening round of a playoff defeat. Eli Manning’s performance in that game also calls into question whether he can still make the throws this team needs him to make.

Pairing superstar and social media icon Odell Beckham jr. with Brandon Marshall can be deadly, for good and bad reasons. The production potential is obvious, with Beckham already scoring 35 touchdowns and tallying over 4,000 yards in his first 3 seasons, and Marshall with 82 career touchdowns and over 12,000 yards receiving. However, with Beckham’s hot headed demeanor and Marshall’s speculated issues in locker rooms, it’ll be interesting to see if the two can mesh together in the Big Apple, and if they can, it may take some time.
