NFL FUTURE WIN TOTAL OVER/UNDER ARIZONA CARDINALS

Vegas odds have the Arizona Cardinals over/under at 7.5 games, and considering the upgraded talent and generosity of their schedule this year, fans can certainly expect a better season than their 2016 campaign. The Cardinals opponents for 2017-2018 went a combined 118-135-3 in 2016-2017, good for the 10th easiest schedule in the league. I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to feature one of the best players in the NFL in David Johnson, and not make the playoffs. With his unique ability to take over a game, the Cardinals know that it is crucial to make the playoffs this year, because you never know what kind of run you get go on with DJ31 in your backfield.

Arizona Cardinals 7.5 Wins Over/Under: Over

Arizona’s defense has built up a reputation for being strong willed and a spirited group of guys over the years. This year, it’ll be interesting to see if the Cardinals defense remain among the elite. Of their top 6 tacklers from last season, the Cardinals lost 5, in D-lineman Calais Campbell, cornerback Marcus Cooper, linebacker Kevin Minter, and safeties Tony Jefferson and D.J Swearinger. They did however draft a versatile linebacker in Haason Reddick who will be able to produce right away. They also picked up linebackers Jarvis Jones and Karlos Dansby, as well as safety Antoine Bethea. When you pair these new pieces to a stout defense that already features  Patrick Peterson, Chandler Jones and the Honey Badger Tyrann Mathieu, the sky is the limit

The Cardinals offense can still put up points with the best of them, but most of their success will rely on the effectiveness of Carson Palmer. At 37 years old, time is not on the veteran quarterback’s side, while his decision making and accuracy last season has highlighted that he has been getting worse with age. Still, he has the best running back in the league in David Johnson who had 2,118 all purpose yards to go with 20 touchdowns last season. He was second on the team in receiving yards, behind veteran Larry Fitzgerald, and ahead of speedsters J.J Nelson and John Brown.

As a talented veteran team with a favorable schedule, and a chip on their shoulder with tons to prove, the Cardinals will be able to tally well over 7 wins for the season. They had a solid draft in picking up a 2 defensive players that can contribute right away, an explosive running back that can catch, a nose guard, and a speedy wide receiver that adds depth to their core. David Johnson is in the prime of his career and will put up similar numbers to that of last season. It all rests on quarterback Carson Palmer, who I think will make the proper adjustments to bounce back, avoid interceptions and do the bare minimum required for this team to win games against some lowly oppositions in 2017.
