The Oakland Raiders won an impressive 12 games last year and experienced their most successful season since making the Super Bowl in 2002. The Raiders are legit Super Bowl contenders this season and have a chance to leave the fans of Oakland a special parting gift before leaving town.

  • Key Player Losses: RB Latavius Murray- Minnesota Vikings, TE Mychal Rivera- Jacksonville, LB Malcolm Smith – San Francisco, CB D.J. Hayden- Detroit, DB Nate Allen- Miami
  • Key Player Additions: RB Marshawn Lynch, TE Jared Cook, OLB Jelani Jenkins
  • Key Draft Additions: WR Gareon Conley (1st rd), S Obi Melifonwu (2nd rd), DT Eddie Vanderdoes (3rd rd), OT David Sharpe (4th rd), LB Marquel Lee (5th rd)

Outlook: Quarterback Derek Carr has been a full participant in OTAs and has fully recovered from his broken leg suffered last season. Raiders offense can outscore any offense in the league and even more so with Beast Mode in the backfield, giving the offense a bulldozer in the backfield. The concern for the Raiders is on the defensive side of the ball, the area was addressed in free agency and the draft. The Raiders core is formed from its young players on the both sides of the ball and should improve throughout the season. I expect some early mistakes on the defensive side that may result in a couple unwarranted losses.

The Raiders will compete in every game this season, but they have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL with many key games coming up late in the season. Winning double digits in the NFL is extremely tough and being in arguably one of the toughest divisions in the NFL doesn’t help. Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos are no cake walk by any stretch and I don’t see the Chargers blowing as many late game leads this year as they have in recent years. Raiders have a great football squad this year and their future looks bright, I just don’t have any confidence booking them for 11 wins. Majority of the public will ride the over as they are one of the most exciting teams to watch in the NFL, which makes me like the UNDER even more. There’s just a much greater chance the Oakland Raiders fall short than them running through this daunting 2017 NFL Schedule.
