NFL Teams That Have Improved Their Super Bowl Odds

Another NFL season has come and gone, and once again the New England Patriots are Super Bowl Champions. It was an interesting year with teams like the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers actually missing the playoffs. Also, the Cleveland Browns were a sneaky team for a lot of opponents and might have made the playoffs, if they won some of those overtime games and knew how to close games out. The Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and San Francisco 49ers took another step backwards in rebuilding. Finally, the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Chargers had breakout years and could be in the Super Bowl mix again next season. Now what all these teams have in common is that they could make a few free agency pick ups that will either make them stronger then they already are or just get someone to fill in some holes. Whatever the case is, some of the teams mentioned above have made some fantastic moves and now their Super Bowl Odds have scored a touchdown.

1. Cleveland Browns (+2200 to +1400)

After going 0-16 in 2017, the Browns out of nowhere had a decent 7-8-1 2018 season. Half of their losses were defeats of three points or less. Baker Mayfield became a savior for the Browns early on in the season and this team was in the hunt for the playoffs up until the final week. Now this team needed another weapon for Mayfield to throw to and to start building around the young arm. Once again, the Browns surprised everyone by snagging Odell Beckham Jr and instantly this team can be one of the best teams in the AFC. They still have a ways to go before being a Super Bowl team, but they have a good chance of winning the AFC North.

2. Oakland Raiders (+10000 to +6600)

In 2016, the Raiders had a 12-4 record and finished second in the AFC West. The team had castoffs of Jim Harbaughs great Niners team and they had some homegrown talent of their own. Sadly that year, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr went down with an injury right before the playoffs were about to start and their magical season was over. Then Oakland went back to its usual losing records and lost some talent along the way. Well, with some potentially good draft picks coming and the awesome signing of Antonio Brown, the black hole might be able to get back to the postseason.

3. New York Jets (+10000 to +12500)

The Jets haven’t been flying high lately, as they have finished last in the AFC East the last three seasons. New York hasn’t won a Super Bowl since Super Bowl III and they are extremely far away from winning another one. The Patriots still run the division and the Jets could try to slowly get better and maybe make a wild card run. Well the Jets had a lot of cap space to work with and they decided to sign Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley. This will definitely improve their running game and defense. It is funny that this move made the their Super Bowl Odds worse, but that’s just the Jets luck nowadays. Maybe sometimes going all in cash wise with a couple great players can be risky. Hopefully, the money was worth it and the Jets can take off again.
