This Sunday, The red hot Atlanta Falcons travel to Lincoln Financial Field to face the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Atlanta Falcons are coming off their second straight victory after a 43-28 blowout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during their week 9 Thursday Night Football matchup taking them to 6-3 for the season. Matt Ryan continues his chase for MVP after a stellar performance against the Bucs where he went 25 of 34 for 344 yards and 4 TDs. This is large part in thanks to 111 yards on 8 receptions from Julio Jones, 74 yards from Mohammed Sanu on 5 receptions and Taylor Gabriel with 52 yards on 5 receptions plus a 9 yards scamper for a touchdown. The Falcons running game sparked the offense quite a bit too. The Falcons accumulated 136 team rushing yards on the back of Devonta Freeman who ran for 77 of those 136 yards. Overall another stellar performance from the Falcons offense. On the defensive side, the Falcons gave up another 28+ points which marks the 6th time in 9 games. While they did get to Jameis Winston for 3 sacks and knocked him out of the game with a knee injury, the Falcons will look to bounce back this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles. Though it will not be an easy task.

As for the Philadelphia Eagles, they are currently on a 2 game losing streak and have lost 4 of their last 5 games following a very close 28-23 loss to the New York football Giants. The Eagles offense was definitely able to matriculate down the field as Carson Wentz threw for 364 yards on 27 of 47 passing but turnovers killed their momentum as he also threw for 2 interceptions. The running game was not very impressive either. Darren Sproles led the Eagles backfield with 57 yards on 13 carries while Ryan Matthews had just 5 carries for 15 yards, though he was able to hit pay dirt with an 8 yards touchdown run. As for their receiving corps, Zach Ertz led the team with 97 yards and a team high 8 receptions. Jordan Matthews was able to produce a respectable 88 yards on 6 catches. As for the defense, the Eagles had a decent showing as they were able to pick Eli Manning twice allowing only 302 total yards on offense. The issue is that they were only able to get Eli down once on a sack which allowed Eli to much time to throw his 4 touchdowns. This is not a good sign considering Matt Ryan is coming to town this weekend with his buddy Julio Jones. You may have heard of them.

Here are a few trends we have compiled for you here at CTS365 that you may want to consider for this matchup:

  • Atlanta is 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 overall
  • The OVER is 6-0 in their last 6 games vs the NFC
  • Philadelphia is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall
  • Atlanta is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 matchups against at Philadelphia

I have no idea why the Falcons are only given 1 point here. The Falcons are hotter than the surface of the sun and the Eagles are, well, the Eagles. Seeing as this is an NFC South matchup and the Falcons want nothing more than to win the division, I believe they will come out firing in what should be another victory for the Atlanta Falcons. I am sure the Eagles will give it their best at home but their best just is not good enough. I am going Falcons here 31-24.
