The Bears and Eagles will meet in the Windy City for a Wold Card round matchup

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles having been facing elimination for a couple weeks now trying to squeeze a spot into the playoffs and they did so in dramatic fashion in week 17 with a little help from the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles will have to rely on backup quarterback Nick Foles for the second straight year. Foles was able to lead them to a Super Bowl victory and head coach Doug Pederson will have to put the offense on Foles shoulders once again. The Eagles come in hot winning four of their last five games with their one loss coming to divisional rival Dallas Cowboys in overtime. Philadelphia scores 22.9 points per game but they allow almost as much averaging 21.8 points against per contest. The offense will need to come up big to overcome that Bears defense on the road where they went 4-4 in the regular season.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have rode their defense all season to get them to a 12-4 record and a first round home game in this seasons playoffs. The defense has been led by Kahlil Mack, Eddie Jackson, and rookie Roquan Smith. These guys are scary to face no matter how good a team’s offense is especially in Chicago. Soldier Field has proven to be one of the toughest places to play this year where road teams have posted 1-7 record in Chicago. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is in his second year and he definitely looks like he belongs. Trubisky threw over 3,200 yards this season with 27 total touchdowns. Chicago averages 26.3 points per game (9th in the league), but the defense has had something to do with it scoring six touchdowns this season. In addition to that, this defense has only allowed 17.7 points per game which is the best in the league. This defense gets even tougher at home and they will look to take advantage of this to move on to the next round with a meeting against the Rams. They’ll need to feed off that energy and give win the field position battle to help their young quarterback in his first postseason start

ESPN NFL Scores Philadelphia Eagles vs Chicago Bears

I expect a low scoring game from these two teams. Points for the eagles will be tough to come by and the philly’s defense shouldn’t be overlooked either. Second year man Mitch Trubisky might have a tough time in his first playoff start. Everything points to an ugly, old school style game and I couldn’t be more excited. I think the Bears will win but it will be close.
