Washington Redskins vs. Philadelphia Eagles Free NFL Pick and Odds

The Philadelphia Eagles will go on the road to face off against the Washington Redskins in Week 17 of the NFL season.

The Eagles shut down Carson Wentz for the rest of the season, but it really doesn’t seem to have affected them much. Although, how much drop-off could really happen when you’ve got a Super Bowl MVP stepping in? Nick Foles has played absurdly well since stepping in for Wentz, once again pulling off some late season magic to keep the Eagles alive. They’ve beaten two solid teams since Foles has taken over, taking down the Rams two weekends ago while stealing a wild win from the Texans. In that Texans game, Foles completed 71% of his passes while also throwing for 471 yards and four touchdowns. He’s only the sixth quarterback in NFL history to pull that off. He threw an 83-yard touchdown pass last Sunday to Nelson Agholor, which was the longest pass through the iconic 91-yard touchdown to DeSean Jackson at Dallas in 2010. It was also his eighth game with a passer rating over 120. He’s even playing well enough for certain talking heads in the sports world to question whether Carson Wentz really is the best QB in Philly. Most reports indicate that Philly is committed to Wentz for the long run, but it’s still insane how rejuvenated the Eagles’ offense looks right now and how once again it’s Foles under center. Now we’ll get to see if he can take Philly back into the playoffs.

The Redskins, meanwhile, are out of playoff contention thanks to their brutal loss against Tennessee and the heroics of Nick Foles. Adrian Peterson played well against the Titans last Sunday, rushing for 112 yards. Josh Johnson, who had to be signed after Alex Smith and Colt McCoy both suffered major injuries and Mark Sanchez, well, did Mark Sanchez things and played horribly, struggled against Tennessee. He threw for only 153 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. One of those interceptions was a brutal pick six at the end of the game to make it 25-16 Titans, leaving a lot of bettors groaning over the bad beat they just experienced (the line was at -10 for the Titans). It’s been a rough latter half of the season for Washington. They went from front-runners in the wide open NFC East to losing five of their last six games. They’re 29th in points per game (18.9) and 28th in yards per game (313.7). Now they have the misfortune of going up against a red-hot Philadelphia team that’s won four of their last five and is gunning for a spot in the playoffs. Washington has had one of the toughest late season stretches this season, and going up against a rejuvenated Philadelphia squad is not exactly what they need. At least they’re already out of the playoffs.

FREE NFL Prediction Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins

One team is fighting for their playoff lives while the other has nothing to fight for anymore. The smart money is on the team with that little extra bit of motivation. The Eagles look more motivated than ever and have a chance to sneak into the playoffs after everyone had written them off. Meanwhile, the Redskins are depleted at quarterback and don’t have playoff hopes to keep them going. Nick Foles and the Eagles have beaten two playoff teams these past two weeks and their offense is clicking right now, so I’ll take the Eagles as favorites in this one.

Pick: Philadelphia -6.5
