With week one of the NFL kicking off, the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles start off the season in a divisional matchup.
The Philadelphia Eagles are coming off an extremely disappointing season, looking to bounce back. The Eagles missed out on the playoffs last season, after winning the Superbowl the season before. Much of the talk last season was a Quarterback controversy between Carson Wentz and Nick Foles. There will be no more controversy after Foles signed with Jacksonville in the offseason.
The Eagles are primed for a serious playoff run this season if the team can stay healthy.
A week one win at their own home stadium will do a lot for the team as they will have a lot of control in the division immediately. Look for Wentz to have a big game in this one.
Washington finds themselves in an interesting situation. A team that last year finished 7-9 and then had a stellar draft. Will Washington make a run at the playoffs, or will they fall for a better draft pick? In the NFC East, it seems to be the Eagles and the Cowboys as front runners, but Washington may be the surprise team. Case Keenum will start over first-round pick, rookie Dwayne Haskins. Keenum had a not so stellar season last year in Denver, finishing 6-10. However, Keenum looks like a temporary starter, taking the hits before Haskins is ready to be thrown into the mix. Washington will bring Derrius Guice back, the former LSU running back, who is coming off a season-long injury last year to play his first season in the NFL.
