NHL Picks and Parlays: Anaheim Ducks vs. Colorado Avalanche
It’s been largely a lost season for the Ducks in 2018-2019. They have been decimated by injuries all year and are weighted down by aging veterans with big contracts in Corey Perry and Ryan Kesler. They come into tonight 4-6 in their last 10 games but have played teams tough. They’ve been very unpredictable as they recently defeated the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators, only to drop a loss to the lowly LA Kings shortly there after. The Ducks do possess a talented young core in Adam Henrique, Jakob Silfverberg, and Rickard Rakell, so the future remains bright. Tonight, John Gibson will lead them in night. Despite his paltry record of 20-21-6-2, on the year he owns a strong 2.88 GAA and .915 SV%. Even though Anaheim will be golfing in April, they have a lot to look forward to next season and beyond.
The Avalanche enter tonight five-points outside of the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. They’ve played inconsistently lately going 2-4 in their last 6 games played and most recently dropping a home loss to the Carolina Hurricanes 3-0 on Monday. Nate MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, both Top-10 in NHL scoring, will lead the team tonight as they continue to push for a playoff berth. The Avs will be without Captain Gabriel Landeskog, third on the teams in points, who will miss the rest of the regular season with an upper-body injury. Colorado will look to veteran netminder, Semyon Varlamov, who owns a strong 2.84 GAA and 910% on the year, to help provide them with a win tonight. The Avs play seven of their remaining twelve games at home and will need to capitalize on that advantage if they have any hope of making the playoffs.

These two teams have split their first two meetings this season, both decided by one goal. Anaheim has enough skill guys to keep this one close, but Colorado will be playing desperate and at home where they are 15-13-6. I think Colorado squeaks out a close one here.
Pick: Colorado -200
