NHL Scores Philadelphia Flyers vs Buffalo Sabres Free Pick

The first games since Monday’s NHL Trade Deadline sees the Buffalo Sabres pay a visit to the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia to face-off with the Flyers. The Sabres have really been struggling this season to be consistent as they have only three wins in their last 10 games. Like the Sabres consistency has been the problem for the Flyers as well, but Philly has won seven of their last 10 games. The Flyers will look to build off their win against the Pittsburgh Penguins in their last game. Buffalo looks to get back on track following a 5-3 loss to Toronto in their last game.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres came up short against the Maple Leafs in a 5-3 slugfest, prior to which the Sabres may have gotten one of their best wins this season when they were able to beat the defending Stanley Cup Champion Capitals two games ago. Defenseman Marco Scandella is out indefinitely for an undisclosed reason and that affects an already iffy defense. Too bad the Sabres aren’t at home in this one as they have struggled away from Buffalo this season with an 11-16-4 road record this season.

Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers have high hopes after beating the Penguins in their last game 4-3. It has been a tough stretch for the Flyers with a couple games against Montreal and Tampa Bay that resulted in losses but prior to those losses the Flyers were six and two in the previous eight games. Those included back-to-back wins against the Detroit Red Wings. Radko Gudas (defender) served his suspension and should be back in the line-up for the Flyers in this game. No Carter Hart (goalie) who is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. The Flyers are 16-12-4 at Wells Fargo Center this season. The Flyers added Ryan Hartman in a trade with the Nashville Predators during Monday’s Trade Deadline.

NHL Picks Buffalo Sabres vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers and Sabres have a similar record with Buffalo (29-25-8) and Philadelphia (29-26-7) as the pair of Eastern Conference teams continue to fight for their place in the standings. The Sabres are fifth in the Atlantic Divison with 66 points while the Flyers are sixth in the Metropolitan with 65 points. The Flyers have looked stronger of these two teams based on their last 10 games. This is the third meeting of the season with each team owning a victory in the first two meetings. In their last 10 games head-to-head the Flyers own a 6-4 record against the Sabres. The Flyers should get the job done at home at Wells Fargo Center. The over is a good play, as well as the final goal total, has been over in four of the Flyers last five home games as well as an over total in four of the last six games when these teams faced-off.

Pick: Flyers -1.5
