FREE NHL CALGARY FLAMES VS FLORIDA PANTHERS PICK

The Calgary Flames and Florida Panthers meet for a Friday action showdown at the BB&T Center.
The Calgary Flames are coming off a back to back as they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning last night 5-1. The Flames are currently on a five game winning streak and have won seven of their last ten games during that stretch as well. They are currently in third in the Pacific Division. The Flames are playing their best hockey of the season at the moment and they look to sweep the sunshine state as they face the Florida Panthers on Friday. The Flames have been road warriors this season as they are 11-5-4 in 20 games on the road this season.
Johnny Gaudreau currently leads the team in points at the moment with 51 points (14 G, 37 A) in 43 games this season. Mike Smith has been solid this season for the Flames behind the net. In 37 starts, he has 19 wins, a 2.50 and a .922 save % this season. The Flames haven’t really performed well on special teams this season. The power play is ranked 20th in the league converting on 17.7% with the man advantage. The penalty kill is the same as they are also ranked 20th in the league killing off 80% of their penalties this season.
The Florida Panthers are coming off a strong performance in their last game as they defeated the St. Louis Blues 7-4 on Jan 9. The Panthers are in 12th in the Eastern conference just six points out of playoff spot. In their last ten games the Panthers are 6-3-1 and are 10-6-3 in 19 games at home. The Panthers just finished their five game road trip and look to build their momentum from the win against the Blues.
Jonathan Huberdeau currently leads the team in points as he has 43 points (16 G, 27 A) in 42 games played. James Reimer continues his stellar play this season, as his stats in 27 starts has 12 wins, a 3.05 GAA, and a .911 save % behind the net this season. The power play has been a huge struggle for the Panthers this season as they are currently 27th in the league converting on 15.6% with the man advantage. The penalty kill has been better lately as they are 19th in the league killing off 80.2% of their penalties this season.

FREE NHL FLAMES VS PANTHERS PREDICTION

My pick in this one is going to be the Florida Panthers especially since the Flames are playing a back to back so there is going to be some tired legs on the ride down south. This game is going to be physical and it should be a low scoring game. The Panthers need to capitalize on their scoring opportunities and if they can get any power plays to also convert on them when they have the opportunity.
