The Nashville Predators are coming off a 5-2 win in game 1 after trailing 2-1 the Predators scored four unanswered. Filip Forsberg scored two goals including a highlight reel goal to put Nashville up for good. The Predators are a hard-nosed defensive minded team that has shown they don’t panic in close games having a 13-4 record in one goal games this season and having allowed the 2nd least goals against. The Predators have won the last ten games against the Avalanche and have killed off 88.89% of Colorado’s power plays. The Predators had an astonishing 18-3 takeaway differential and out hit Colorado 36-24. It looks to be unclear whether either Yannick Weber or Calle Jarnkrok will be available for Game 2 for Nashville but it looks as if Jarnkrok has a chance to go for Game 2 after having skated on Thursday morning before Game 1.

The Avalanche face the task of attempting to stop one of the best team in hockey on the road in a place where the Predators dropped just two games all last postseason. The Avalanche scored the third most power play goals this season but couldn’t break through the Predators power play killing unit going 0 for 3 including a 5 on 3 opportunity. The Avalanche dropped to 22-3-2 when leading after the first period after getting off to a 1-0 lead on Thursday evening. Colorado has struggled on the road with the loss in game 1 they dropped to 15-20-7 on the year. If Colorado wants to win they will need to limit the penalty minutes having 16 of those minutes in Game 1.

Free NHL Predictions Colorado Avalanche vs. Nashville Predators

Although Nashville is not a great value bet they are the better team and have been consistently the best team in hockey this year as evidenced by their presidents’ trophy. Nashville started slow and managed to make up a one goal deficit twice and stretched the winning margin to three. The power play as well as each team’s ability to kill them off will be the key and Nashville has shown time and time again they may be one of the best in the league at each. The Predators seem on a mission to erase the pain of the Stanley Cup finals defeat last year.  The Predators are the better team and the home team in what will be a crazy atmosphere in Nashville on a Saturday afternoon so take the Predators.
