The Nashville Predators took care of business in their two home games and now move on to Denver for two games in the Colorado Avalanche’s own building. It was another high scoring affair in Nashville, as the Predators defeated the Avalanche by a score of 5-4. After Nashville was down 1-0, they picked things up and really went to work on the forecheck. As we have seen with the Preds for a few years now, certain players just elevate their game when the postseason hits. In particular, Austin Watson has been an absolute force on offense, winning every puck battle and allowing the Preds to tire the Avs out. Watson was rewarded for his hard work by scoring in the 3rd period to put the Preds up 4-2. Nashville has been getting depth scoring from every line, allowing themselves to line match against the Avalanche. David Arvidsson has been playing lights out as well, so look for those two players to have a huge impact for the first of two games in Denver.
The Colorado Avalanche dropped their first two games against Nashville on the road. However, there is no need for the Colorado faithful to be concerned. The Avalanche have played extremely well against this deep Nashville Predators team and they are really competing at a high level. It is quite a challenge to go against a president’s trophy team, and expect the Avalanche to come out flying in their first game on home ice. Colorado will turn to two of their goal-scorers from game two, Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog, to set the tone and create scoring chances off the rush. If the Avalanche want to stay in this series and extend it, they need to get more scoring from their depth players, along with getting their defenseman more involved in the offensive zone.

Colorado lost their first two games, but played quite well, and has fallen short because of some unfortunate circumstances. They have also seen the Predators play twice now, so they have the opportunity to make adjustments based off of what they have seen.
