NHL Scores Columbus Blue Jackets vs Boston Bruins
Through three games it has been a wildly entertaining and stressful series. None of the three contests have gone over 5 goals but the action has been high paced and intense. Columbus has taken the last two to claim the series lead but must win tonight to keep hold of home ice advantage and push Boston to the brink of elimination.
After the surprising whooping of the Lightning, the Jackets have not had it so easy playing the Bruins, getting outshot thus far into the series and falling behind in two of three games. They pinned seven goals on Tampa in their series clinching win in game 4 and have only been able to match that total through three full games + some overtime in this series.
Columbus has had what all playoff teams fawn for, the hottest goalie in the league. Sergei Bobrovsky ranks second in playoff Goaltending in both goals against average and save percentage but has played much stiffer competition than leader Robin Lehner, having to play against the top 2 teams in the East. Bob stole the show as the Jackets were outshot 15-7 in the third period of game 3 and failed to score a goal on offense but came away with a shutout in the period to complete their 1 goal victory.
Trade deadline acquisition Matt Duchene has also shown up in a large way, coming into these playoffs without a playoff goal, he has put up 9 points in 7 games and been a key force in Columbus’ offensive production.
Boston has struggled with top end scoring this series as their top line of Bergeron-Marchand-Pastrnak have combined for only one point through three games and have made more headlines for dirty hits than their on-ice production. Surprisingly, Charlie Coyle has been the spark plug on offense for Boston, putting up 2 goals and an assist in this series and holds the team lead with 5 goals overall.
The Bruins will need to pick up their scoring as a whole if they hope to swing the series back in their favor. Averaging 3.29 goals per game against the Maple Leafs, Boston has put up just 2 per game this go around and has yet to see Columbus reach their full goal scoring capabilities.

A big scene has been set for tonight’s match-up with the drama of a potential series defining game and the drama that could ensue from Brad Marchand’s (predictable and tiring) antics in game 3. In my eyes, this is a absolute must win for Boston as the Jackets have shown they can put their foot down despite lacking the playoff experience and giving them three chances to will not end well. I see this game opening up more than the previous three as the stakes are higher and there should be more aggression embedded in each side. I think Boston needs it more but believe Columbus will find their shooting touch and be able to rely on Bobrovsky to keep the Bruins down some more. Jackets in another close one.
