NHL Picks and Parlays  Montreal Canadiens vs. San Jose Sharks

Montreal Canadiens

The Canadiens resume their three-game Western Conference road trip tonight coming off a 3-1 win in Los Angeles and clinging to the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. They’ll face a stout San Jose Sharks team that is loaded with talent and sitting behind only the Calgary Flames in both the Pacific Division and Western Conference standings. The Canadiens are 5-5 in their last 10 games played but have turned it on with three wins out of the last four played. A major reason for the team’s success this year has been the resurgence of goaltender Carey Price. On the year, Price owns a 2.51 GAA and .917 SV%. Tuesday’s win tied Price with Hall of Famer Jacques Plante for the franchise record in wins with 314, which he will look to break tonight. Offensively, Max Domi, leads the team with 59 points. He was acquired this past offseason from the Arizona Coyotes and has already surpassed his career high in points with 15 games yet to be played. The Canadiens are 17-13-3 on the road this year but haven’t won a game in San Jose since 1999. Look for them to come out hard as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks continue their four-game homestand tonight, the winners of two straight and will look to make it three as they battle this young Montreal Canadiens team. For the year, San Jose has been phenomenal at home with a 21-5-5 record. While their goaltending has been shaky, the offense has more than made up for it. Led by leading scorer’s Brent Burns and Joe Pavelski, the team has amassed a +32 goal differential, which sits Top-5 in the league. San Jose sits just three-points back of Calgary in the Pacific Division and will look to close the gap tonight. However, they will be without All-Star defenseman Erik Karlsson and power forward Evander Kane, whom are both out with injuries. In net tonight will be starter Martin Jones. While he hasn’t had his strongest year, he has been solid at home with a 2.61 GAA and .904 SV% – compared to his road stats of a 3.29 GAA and .890 SV%. San Jose will look to continue their home dominance and keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive as they currently sit 7-1 to take down the big prize this year.

Free NHL Expert Picks: Montreal Canadians vs. San Jose Sharks

The Canadiens are playing well and getting phenomenal goaltending from Carey Price right now but he is only 2-9-1 against them in his career. They play teams tight and have the offensive prowess to keep this one close. The Sharks will be without two top players in Karlsson and Kane, but I believe between their home dominance and deeper roster, they will win tonight, as they look to take the top spot from Calgary in both the Pacific Division and Western Conference.

Pick: San Jose -175
