Part of the reason why might be the lack of goal scoring, for Anaheim finds themselves dead last in the Western Conference. In fact, when it comes to every meaningful ranking, the Predators outshine the Ducks in almost every way possible. Since you asked, the only time Anaheim outranks Nashville is in regard to their power play. Anaheim is ranked 25th in the league while Nashville is 30th. On Tuesday, March 12, 2019, the Nashville Predators will be making the trek to the Honda Center to take on the Ducks on Anaheim…at 10 PM EST. Much like the last prediction I was wrongly right about, this match involves a team that has zero chance of making the playoffs. On the flip side, their opponent all but has their playoff spot locked up. Unlike the Detroit Red Wings, I don’t see the Ducks have legions of fans clinging to the memories of 2007. Hockey is not in the blood of Californians like it is for the folks of Michigan. In fact, even Nashville appears to be more of a Hockey town than Anaheim is. Of course, who can blame anyone for not wanting to see a team with 63 points on the year?

If Nashville wants another run to the cup, that number must rise. Anaheim would be the perfect team to do it against. Then again, only nine minutes in total penalties separate these teams. Rest assured, Nashville will go on the man advantage at some point, right? Nashville doesn’t really need their power play as it is. Despite it’s ranking at 30th, the Predators find themselves ranked seventh in goals scored.

They also rank fourth in the league overall in goals against and while Anaheim’s ranked 10th in that regard, their lack of scoring (on and off the power play) has shot the Ducks down. When looking for an advantage in this game for Anaheim, I couldn’t find a single one. They’re 3-7 in the last ten games and are only one game above .500 at home. Although Nashville is coming into this game having gone 5-5 in their last ten, they’re four games over .500. Must I use the Imperious Curse to convince all of you Anaheim will win? It won’t work because they’re going to lose to Nashville. With this win, Nashville may take the lead over Winnipeg in their division race. When pride is the difference between winning and losing? It’s usually enough to pull that W in.

Last time these two teams met, it was a 5-2 victory for the Predators. I’m not sure if the score’s going to be the same but it could be very similar. Based on the fact that Nashville’s in the top 10 of goals for and goals against, they could put up three or four regardless of how inept their power play is. On the flip side, especially if Pekka Rinne’s in net, Anaheim will be lucky to get two goals in this game. I’d say they’ll get shut out but A.) That might jinx me and second, even a team like Anaheim has enough talent to put one goal in. Last time I checked, Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf are (somehow) still on the team and though they’re old and slow, they have decent hands to get it done one time.Regardless, unless the sky falls, one goal will not be enough for Jonathon Gibson to work with. The Ducks goal-scoring may’ve worked in the mid 90s but not in 2019. Nashville will win in this game and it’ll be by at least two.
