Well Game 3 is in the books and it brought back the Boston Bruins domination hockey. The Bruins won 7-2 and had the ice tilted from halfway through the first period to the end of the game. Boston put on a clinic in special teams play. The Bs went 4 for 4 on the power play and 4 for 5 on the penalty kill. Boston has now won five in a row on the road and left the St. Louis organization shaking their heads. The Blues had an early power play chance in Game 3 and maybe if they converted on that early opportunity, things could have been different. That’s really the only bright spot they had. Jordan Binnington was pulled after giving up 5 goals and the Blues will need to show their comeback ways again in Game 4. The starting goalies for Game 4 are Tuukka Rask vs Jordan Binnington.
The Bruins had a video game type victory in Game 3. Being that lethal on the power play and completely dominating your opponent made it seem like Boston was on the hard difficulty setting and St. Louis was playing on easy. The crazy thing in the end was that the Bruins were still outshot and outhit in this game, but the execution was there for them. The Boston defense gets a lot of credit for blocking 19 shots and hey they still had to protect that lead with their five penalties. Patrice Bergeron had 1 goal and 2 assists and Torey Krug finished with 1 goal and 3 assists. Krug has made an impact in every game this series by either helping with the scoring or getting big hits. Boston is back to feeling confident as ever and they will look to continue their road dominance.
The Blues are back to feeling blue in this series. St. Louis thought they had their garbage game out of the way in Game 1, but now maybe it’s looking like the Bruins might be the better team. The Blues are now 5-6 at home and throughout these playoffs, they have really struggled to get any offensive rhythm going in front of their fans. The 2 goals in Game 3 were deflected off of Bruins players, so really they lost 9-0. The prediction in that last game was that the special teams would make or break the Blues and it was the complete difference in the game. It’s nice that St. Louis finally scored on the power play, but the game was over at that point. The team is now 1-10 with the man advantage. The Blues can still bring the physical play, but they learned that the dirty penalties aren’t going to get them anywhere. St. Louis will bounce back in Game 4 effort wise and maybe they can seize opportunities early.
NHL Playoffs Boston Bruins vs St. Louis Blues
So, who will win Game 4? The Bruins are 9-1 in their last ten playoff games and they have won five in a row on the road. Rask has given up 2 goals or less in all five of those games. They say champion caliber teams can play well at home and on the road, and the Bruins have done just that. It also takes a goalie who has barely been rattled in the postseason. The Blues magical season was put on hold with another garbage like game in this postseason and their worst game in awhile. Good thing is that most teams bounce back after awful games and the Blues have been the best at it. They will play with an edge like they did in Game 2, but in the end, Bruins win the tight game 3-2.
