The Blues are in trouble. There is no two ways about it. The Blues are really, really in trouble. The St. Louis Blues had a chance to close out a 3 game winning streak and raise their first Stanley Cup in 52 years in front of their home fans. Instead, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch mistakenly congratulated their hometown team on winning a game they’d lost. You might think this doesn’t matter, but keep in mind this is a superstitious Blues team. This is the same Blues team that refused to lay a finger on their conference championship trophy for fear of being jinxed. Even putting jinxes aside, this is a St. Louis Blues team that just lost their momentum, and must now travel to one of the most aggressive cities in the country to take on a Bruins team that has won three of their last 4 game 7’s. They’re also throwing out a rookie goaltender who just let in a crushing game 6 bouncer. The Blues are in trouble.

Boston sports fan arrogance is climbing to new heights. The most privileged sports city in the country welcomes home the Bruins for game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final after the team managed to stave off elimination in an away game 6 with the help of a reawakened Brad Marchand. Things are good in Beantown. In addition to finally receiving production from team spiritual leader Brad Marchand and the rest of his line, the Bruins received dominant goaltending from former Vezina Trophy winner Tuuka Rask and continued defensive heroism from Charlie McAvoy. The Bruins are clicking on all cylinders and they enter game 7 in familiar territory. After falling down to the Maple Leafs 3-2 earlier in these playoffs the Bruins proved they were capable of winning consecutive games to close out a series. The Bruins will enter Game 7 confident history will repeat itself.

Anyone who thinks the St. Louis Blues are winning game 7 never had to shovel their driveway on snow day. Anyone who thinks the Blues are winning game 7 still believes their childhood dog is really still living on that farm upstate. Anyone who thinks the Blues are winning game 7 hasn’t watched enough sports in the past 5 years. This is the world we live in. There is no justice. There is no balance. The Boston team wins and everyone else can go check up on their mock drafts. I hate Brad Marchand
