ESPN NHL Scores: Detroit Red Wings vs. Vegas Golden Knights

The Detroit Red Wings were lucky enough to get another (almost) week off and got to relax the week previous as well.

The Vegas Golden Knights are hoping to ride the train of balanced scoring and timely goaltending that’s gotten them in a healthy playoff position, with only 2 and half months remaining in the season.

Vegas Golden Knights

Balanced scoring is an understatement for the Vegas Golden Knights. Their top scorer is Alex Tuch, with only 40 points and Jon Marchessault is further behind at 36 points. The team gets scoring from every line, so this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

With balanced scoring comes the hope for good goaltending. At this point in the season, the Knights have asked a lot out of the aging veteran, Marc-Andre Fleury. He’s got 47 games played already and could be looking at a sharp drop.

Detroit Red Wings

Dylan Larkin was leading the way, for this group, but will now be out of the lineup for a while. His 49 points in 52 games are a hop-and-a-skip away from being a point-per-game but were still very impressive. It is even more impressive when you consider his low PDO score of 98.1 and his low oiSH% of 7.8%.

The loss of Larkin could be devastating, despite the victory against the Maple Leafs. The Wings will need to find the same balanced scoring that is working for the Vegas Golden Knights if they want to compete.

The Golden Knights can beat you with scoring from all four lines, as opposed to only having to stop one line. The loss of Dylan Larkin will hurt. Plus, I’m going to the game and rooting for the Red Wings, so chances are we’ll get destroyed.

Pick: Knights -1.5, Knights170, Over 6
