NHL Scores Washington Capitals vs. New Jersey Devils

It looks like Friday night NHL action is going to feature the Washington Capitals vs. the New Jersey Devils at the Capital One Arena in D.C. The Washington Capitals come into this game riding high after they won a high-scoring 5-3 affair against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. Interestingly enough, there were a lot of people – including yours truly – who were picking against the Capitals. Well, we all stand corrected.

The New Jersey Devils come into this game going in the opposite direction, having lost their last four games and not being able to put much offense in the process. They’ve only scored five goals during this period and their last game was a 2-1 shootout loss on their home turf against the Columbus Blue Jackets. They will be looking for some redemption. There are definitely a lot of sub-plots in this matchup, so yes, this will be a fun game to watch and wager on.

Washington Capitals

In their 5-3 slugfest against the Philadelphia Flyers, the Caps actually jumped out to a 5-0 lead with goals from Tom Wilson, Brett Connolly, Alex Ovechkin, Niklas Backstron and Andrei Burakovsky. The Flyers answered after the large cushion was built up by the Capitals, notching scores from Philippe Myers, Claude Giroux and Scott Laughton. However, three goals was all they were going to get and the Caps won it 5-3.

New Jersey Devils

The Devils went through a rather disappointing game where they lost in a shootout game to Columbus by a score of 2-1. The Devils’ lone score came from Travis Zajac and Blake Coleman and Andy Greene assisted with the goal. The Blue Jackets’ Cam Atkinson started the scoring for Columbus in the first, and then Atkinson and teammate Artemi Panarin won the shootout period to notch the 2-1 victory and give goalie Sergei Bobrovsky and his 29-save effort the “W”.

NHL Scores New Jersey Devils vs. Washington Capitals

Considering these are two teams who are going in opposite directions, I feel I have no choice but to go with the Washington Capitals. They exhibited their power in their last game and showed their power to everyone, and that was a much better team to the Devils. I think the Capitals take this one, period.

NHL Pick: Capitals -250
