The Western Conference Finals is underway as the Winnipeg Jets take on the Vegas Golden Knights at the Bell MTS Place for Game 2.
The Winnipeg Jets enter Game 2 with a 1-0 series lead and they look to continue that success at home. Center Mark Scheifele has been on a tear thus far as he leads the NHL with 12 goals in 13 playoff games to go with six assists to tie teammate Blake Wheeler with 18 points. Regular season point leader Wheeler has been just as efficient in the playoffs as well, but with more focus on facilitating as he’s registered an NHL playoff leading 15 assists. When you add the fact that they are getting great production from players like Paul Stastny and Dustin Byfuglien as well and it is no surprise that this team averaged 3.33 goals per game (2nd in NHL) on 10.3% shooting (4th in NHL) and 32.2 shots on goal (14th in NHL). The Jets are also very strong during power plays as they score on 23.4% of them (5th in NHL) and they win 52.4% of their faceoffs (5th in NHL). Defensively, Winnipeg is strong as well and they have shown it throughout the playoffs as they have allowed just 2.31 goals per game. Those numbers are even better than what they were showing during the regular season, so they’ve been able to turn it up a notch. Same goes for goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who is arguably having one of the best seasons of his career and continues to show it in these playoffs.
The Vegas Golden Knights expansion season continues to get more and more impressive as they have now reached the Western Conference Finals. To start the season, many expected this team to be one of the worst in the league and to barely make any noise this season. Well they were very wrong as this is easily the greatest expansion team in all of pro sports, and it really isn’t even close. The Golden Knights have been led by Jonathan Marchessault with 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists) and a team leading +8 plus/minus. Reilly Smith has also been huge with 12 points (1 goal, 11 assists) while regular season points leader William Karlsson has been effective as well with 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) and a +7 plus/minus. With these three playing the way they have all season the Golden Knights have been one of the better offensive teams averaging 3.27 goals per game (5th in NHL) on 10.0% shooting (8th in NHL) and 32.8 shots on goal (11th in NHL). They are one of the better all around teams in the NHL as well as they allow just 2.74 goals per game (8th in NHL) on 30.7 shots on goal (7th in NHL). They are also one of the more disciplined teams in the league averaging just 6.8 penalty minutes (2nd in NHL) and kill 81.4% of opponent penalties (10th in NHL). When you add the fact that Marc-Andre Fleury is somehow playing the best he ever has in the postseason you have a tough team to beat.

FREE NHL PREDICTION WINNIPEG JETS VS VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS
The Winnipeg Jets showed that despite it being the first time in their franchise history making it to the Conference Finals they are more then ready for the challenge. The Golden Knights will have another tough battle on their hands, but it would be surprising if Fleury were to let another four goals past him again. Vegas will tie the series at 1 game a piece.
