Leicester City FC 2018/19 Season Review
Leicester City FC had an extremely inconsistent 2018/19 English Premier League campaign. The club was led by Claude Puel up until Christmas time. Puel's system and approach to the game were never accepted by the fans, the players, or experts. As a result, he was always under scrutiny throughout his time at the club. He was sacked by the club after a few mixed results. He was notably defeated by a declining Cardiff only a week after back-to-back victories against Chelsea FC and Manchester City in December. It is important to mention that the Foxes suffered a tragic period as the owner of the club, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, passed in a plane crash on October 27, 2018. This event influenced their performance for a few weeks.
The Foxes' form and performance stabilized as Brendan Rodgers, a successful and experienced Premier League manager, took over the role in February. As time passed the fans and the players fell in love with their football club once again. The Foxes finished 9th with 52 points with only a goal difference of 3 goals (51 goals scored and 48 goals conceded).
Leicester City FC During This Summer
Leicester City has successfully signed two of the hottest young prospects in world football in Youri Tielemans and Ayoze Pérez during this transfer window. After a convincing season with Newcastle United last season, Pérez can be a great understudy to Vardy as the veteran is approaching the end of his career. Pérez will also serve as a much needed back-up option after the departure of the team's Japanese star, Shinji Okazaki, to Málaga CF. The Foxes have also been heavily linked to Sampdoria's midfielder Dennis Praet as they are looking to strengthen the squad with young talent.
