This has all the making of an early season six-pointer. Both sides will be looking to kick-start their season and build up squad confidence. Burnley got their first win of the season last weekend in emphatic fashion against a high-flying Bournemouth side in a result that was pretty unexpected. Burnley had shown no signs of producing this kind of performances in their first few league games. Goals from Matej Vydra, Aaron Lennon and two goals from last seasons star man, Ashley Barnes.

Not only were Burnley solid going forward but their defense also looked rock-solid. Prior to this, Sean Dyche was inevitably looking under pressure after seeing his side lose four straight games, added to that the Clarets exit from the Europa League- failing to even reach the group stage. Burnley seem to have turned a corner following their emphatic performance last weekend. A much changed side lost in mid-week to Burton Albion in the League Cup, even after being ahead in the game before being undone by two moment of magic from the League One side.

Cardiff on the other hand are looking for their first win of the season after finding that the Premier League so far has been somewhat a baptism of fire. The Blue Birds have a lack of attacking flair, something that if did have, they possibly could have easily won two games. Those two games were their 0-0 draw against Newcastle United and Huddersfield Town. Both of these games saw Cardiff have an abundance of chances to wrap up the game but failed to show that killer instinct which is needed in England’s top tier.

In fact, the only meaningful goals that the Blue Birds have scored were in their last home league game against Arsenal in a 3-2 defeat. For much of that game, the home side were chasing the game and finally managed to get back into the game with an equalizer by Danny Ward. However, this time it was their defense that crumbled and allowed Alexandre Lacazette to score the winner five minutes from time. City will need to sure up their errors if they will have any chance of survival this season. They are already looking doomed, with no signs of a first win on the horizon. This game on Sunday is a massive game for the home side and should they lose this, bookmakers might as well start paying out on the Blue Birds being relegated.

This is a game which a lot of neutrals will probably forget about watching as it isn’t the most attractive game on paper to watch, with a distinct lack of flair on show. I however, am expecting a few goals in this game and I think it will be gripping with the home fans producing an amazing atmosphere. The fans will be key to how Cardiff perform on the weekend, if they are patient and allow their team time to execute their game plan, they could be in for a good afternoon. However, if fans quickly turn on their team and produce a toxic atmosphere for their team then it could quickly go sour.

I expect Cardiff to get their win here. Mainly down to the fact that Neil Warnock knows how to get the best out of his players when it really matters. This is their most important game of the season and I can not express how much they need to win this game. If they lose this they are down. I think Cardiff will win this 3-1, with summer signing Bobby Reid finally getting his first goal for his new team and his first goal in the Premier League.
