Premier League Picks Everton vs Manchester City

Everton host Manchester City at Goodison Park on Wednesday night -what seems to be a potential title-deciding match. A win here for Pep Guardiola’s side would take them to the top of the table on goal differences. Everton’s arch-rival Liverpool would be hoping the Toffees can upset the champions. Marco Silva is in pressure at the moment, his side has been inconsistent throughout the season and their recent defeat at home to Wolves has added even for heat. Everton are currently on 9th in the table after starting the season on high note. City are 3 points behind Liverpool on second in the table.

Everton fans would want to forget what happened against Wolves last weekend and expecting their team can do a favor for Liverpool – although it would be interesting to hear their thoughts. The Merseyside need their stars player to come to the party if they’re to beat the Defending Champions. At the start of the season, the Toffees were finding the net more often and then not with the help of their key players Siggurduson and Richardson. Andre Gomes stunning goal against Wolves at home showed he’s well and truly capable of finding the net when needed. Everton’s last victory against Manchester City came in January 2017 at Goodison Park thrashing the Citizens 4-0. Their overall record in last 11 games against City has been poor to say the least – winning just one out those fixtures. City have had a dismal away record recently – winning only 2 of their last 5 Premier League Away Games, but their record against Everton at Goodison Park has been really good – winning 2 of their last three premier league outings.

Manchester City yet again have a chance to catch Liverpool, after The Reds draw against West Ham on Monday Night. Former City Manager Manuel Pellegrini’s side held the league leader to just one point – what would have a Five point lead at the top for Liverpool. Manchester City bounced back from their loss to Newcastle – which was surprising, their win against Arsenal on Sunday at the Etihad was the sort of football Pep Guardiola wants his side to play. Although, the manager did seem frustrating at times his side wasn’t doing what they were instructed to do. If the citizens are to win back to back Premier League title’s they’ll have to get past Everton on Wednesday. Next up are Chelsea for Manchester City at the Etihad which is never an easy fixture. The Blues have already defeated the champions earlier in the season. Sergio Aguero would want to continue his good form after scoring a hat-trick against Arsenal. Jesus, Sane, and Mahrez would all be hoping to play in the starting 11. The experiment with Fernandinho at the back did seem to work for pep, it would be interesting to see what his tactics would be against Everton.
