Leicester City vs. Chelsea

Leciester City vs. Chelsea

Premier League

Stamford Bridge

Team News Leicester City:

The Foxes are one of the greatest sensations the sports world has ever seen over the past three years. They went from a Championship division team, to the relegation zone, to survival, to Premier League Champions. Ever since that unprecedented title run, they have been one of the toughest teams to predict. They are one of the most up and down teams in the league and could beat anyone on any given day. They fell 2-1 at the King Power to Chelsea earlier this season. Jamie Vardy continues to impress, with 9 goals in 21 matches, followed closely behind by Algerian sensation, Riyad Mahrez, with 7 goals and 7 assists. They present trouble for Chelsea with their counter attacking play style and Marc Albrighton has been hot as of late, dishing out 3 assists in his last 4 matches.

Team News Chelsea:

Chelsea FC are the defending league champs. Unless there is a historical collapse by Manchester City, it looks like they will not be defending their title again this year. However, they are right in the mix of top 4, looking to play in Europe next year. First year striker Alvaro Morata has been a breath of fresh air up front for Chelsea, replacing Diego Costa who had a falling out with manager Antonio Conte. Morata has 10 goals and 4 assists on the season. Chelsea have the always dangerous Eden Hazard on the wing, who has 6 goals and 2 assists in 14 starts this year. N’golo Kante is the defending Premier League Player of the Year and is in for a tough matchup in the midfield with Leicester’s Wilfried Ndidi, but ultimately controls the tempo for Chelsea. They are on a five game unbeaten streak of DDDWW.

This is a tough one to predict but I have to give a slight edge to Chelsea. They are in top 4 and need to switch their focus to ensuring European League football soon once the league is out of reach. I like Chelsea by a small margin here but do not see a clean sheet on either side in this match. Leicester is a -1.5 goal underdog, so I see them covering the spread in this match.
