Free English Premier League Picks Liverpool vs. Chelsea
In yet another vital game at Anfield; Liverpool take on Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier League. The Reds moved back to the top after their 3-1 win over Southampton but City have played a game less; the title race could be decided if Liverpool lose to Chelsea. Last time these two sides met – it was former Chelsea player Daniel Sturridge who scored a stunning goal for Liverpool to draw the match (1-1). Liverpool haven’t won any of their last six Premier League games at Anfield against Chelsea (D4 L2); the Reds have never endured a longer winless home run against an opponent in the competition. Chelsea have already won away at Liverpool this season, beating them 2-1 in the EFL Cup. The Blues are in desperate need of a win, if they’re to stay in the top four and play in next season’s Champions League.
Liverpool face a team who defeated them in 2014 at Anfield which caused them the title and the Blues will look to do the same on Sunday. The Reds will be confident playing at Anfield and it’s tough for travelling teams to beat them at home. Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 37 Premier League games at Anfield – only once in their top-flight history have they had a longer unbeaten home run (63 between Feb 1978-Dec 1980). If Liverpool are to win they need to stop Eden Hazard or else he could be the deciding factor between the two sides.
Jurgen Klopp would believe his side can overcome Chelsea with the attacking power he has in the side, especially knowing their opponents have slipped against big-six sides and their away record has been poor. After missing mid week’s game against Porto, Left back Andrew Robertson will be available for selection. Joel Matip is expected to start in place of Lovren. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain hasn’t yet recovered from his injury.
Chelsea have won three of their last four away league games against sides starting the day top, including a 2-0 victory at Anfield in April 2014. The Blues have always been a team who raise to the occasion in big games, they might not have done that this season; but their record against Liverpool is excellent – The Blues’ last defeat at Anfield came back in May 2012 in the Premier League (1-4). Maurizio Sarri is already facing Criticism from the Chelsea fans and this could be an opportunity to silence them by a win and starting Callum Hudson Odoi in the starting line up.
Chelsea have won three Premier League games in a row for the first time since September 2018, when they won their first five matches in the competition under Maurizio Sarri. It will be interesting to see Chelsea’s starting eleven – David Luiz and Emerson are expected to return to the starting line up in place of Christensen and Alonso who played in the mid week. Higuain’s form has been a concern for Sarri and he’ll have to decide between the Argentinian and Giroud.

Only three of the last 32 visiting managers have managed to taste victory in their first Premier League trip to Anfield (W3 D5 L24); Louis van Gaal in March 2015, Slaven Bilic in August 2015 and most recently, Paul Clement in January 2017.
Roberto Firmino has scored seven goals in his last six Premier League home games for Liverpool. However, the Brazilian has only faced Man Utd (8) and Everton (7) more often than Chelsea (5) without finding the net in the Premier League.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has had a hand in more goals than any other Premier League player this season (28 – 16 goals and 12 assists). The only league season in which the Belgian has been involved in more goals was in 2011/12 with Ligue 1 club Lille (36).
