Newcastle United are set to host Manchester United at St. James Park in an encounter that could see the Red Devils climb all the way up to 6th place. Events could also end with the Magpies climbing out of the relagation zone and into 15th position.

Manchester Red have been unable to find the path to their former glory in recent years. While pundits and fans claim that the Red Devils will surely succeed against Newcastle, things may not go as planned. Tottenham was the first top team to take a loss against Newcastle, and Man United might be next.

Newcastle United

The Magpies have had an oddly interesting season. They have been shockingly poor in defense at times, having conceded 13 goals in the last 7 games. While that isn't a far cry from the same statistic of other teams, Newcastle have scored only four goals, and that's the problem.

They don't play attacking football. Most of their time on the pitch is spent holding off opponents and searching for a counter-attack. In most cases, they don't surge forward in numbers. Yet, with all their defensive play, Newcastle have still conceded one of the highest number of goals in the league.

In terms of team news, the Magpies are missing Florian Lejeune and Matt Richie due to injury. issac Hayden is currently suspended and won't be available for selection. Jonjo Shelvey, Jetro WIllems, and Dwight Gayle all seem unfit and are unlikely to play in this fixture.

Manchester United

The Red Devils haven't found any consistency in their games yet. While it looks like they're strong enough to weather the storm sometimes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are yet to find their rhythm.

One of their main issues has been sourcing out opportunities in the final third and making them count. They have scored merely 9 goals in 7 games, as bad as it gets for a top-six club. Their defense has shown much better performances since their drastic turn of form last season. In 7 games, they have conceded 7 goals. However, their last game saw them concede an unnecessary goal against Arsenal.

United have quite a number of players unavailable due to injury. Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard, and Paul Pogba are some key players who will have to watch the match from the sidelines. Aaron Wan-Bissaka might not be fit enough for the game, but the decision to field him rests on Solskjaer.
