Arsenal vs. Norwich City

 Norwich(L-L-D-L-L) vs. Arsenal(W-W-D-W-W)
English Premier League: 1 December at 2:00 pm(UK Time)
Venue: Carrow Road

Arsenal will be playing their first match under Freddie Ljungberg against Norwich City at Carrow Road in what could turn around to be one of the most interesting games of the Sunday with plenty of goals expected from both sides.

Norwich City

Norwich has failed to impress this season after their famous win against Manchester City. The Canaries have accumulated as little as four points from their last eight games. Presently, the team is ranked 18th in the points-table and Daniel Farke’s primary motive would be to move his team out of the relegation zone.

Norwich has been pretty miserable in defence, and in their last 3 games prior to 2-0 win over Everton, they have conceded 10 goals and scored only twice. The team has always caught out of position while defending, their defenders are prone to individual errors, over-committing and they are highly vulnerable to set pieces. No wonder, Norwich concedes an average of 2.15 goals every game and already conceded a total of 28 goals this season. Arsenal’s strikers would love to exploit on their defensive miseries.

Daniel Farke would be tempted to play the same team that showed promising as well as cohesive display against Everton last weekend. However, they might have to play without Todd Cantwell who picked up a minor injury during the game. Teemu Pukki goals have dried up after scoring five goals in the first six matches and he would be desperate to regain his form

Arsenal will be playing their first match under Freddie Ljungberg who succeeded Unai Emery at the club, following his dismissal after losing to Eintracht Frankfurt in Europa League. Ljungberg is expected to stabilise things at the club, reinvigorate the players and most importantly, take them back to the winning ways.

Arsenal has two wins from the last eleven matches and none in the last seven in the domestic league. The club has looked completely out of the rhythm, worn out and tactically inept up till now. They have the joint-worst defensive record in top-10. Arsenal has repeatedly squandered leads, owing to the horrible defending and lack of intensity. Nicholas Pepe, despite showing a glimpse of brilliance here and there, has failed to perform on a consistent basis.

David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi, both of them are likely to miss this clash after picking an injury against Frankfurt. Rob Holding has recovered from a knee injury and he would be in contention to play at Carrow Road. Real Madrid loanee Dani Ceballos would not be able to make it before Christmas. It would be interesting to see how Ljungberg lines up in his debut game for the Gunners.

  • Arsenal currently leads the head-to-head with 29 wins to Norwich’s 11. The remaining 18 matches finished drawn.
