Tottenham will look to welcome Newcastle to the Magpies' first-ever game at Spurs’ brand new stadium. Notably, the stadium hasn’t gotten a name yet. Club officials may have temporarily called it Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but that hasn’t stopped fans from branding it the ‘New White Hart Lane’. Newcastle fans will get a chance to watch their team play at the new stadium and potentially steal a point or more.

Tottenham Hotspur

Overall, Tottenham have had an average start to the season. In their first match against Aston Villa, Spurs had a much better outing. A brace from Harry Kane and a searing shot from new signing Tanguy Ndombele were enough to secure three points at home. Notably, though, they let a goal in only 9 minutes into the game, and it took them over 70 game minutes to breakthrough. However, once they had scored, the Lilywhites found their rhythm and popped in two more before the final whistle.

In their last game, Spurs were totally outclassed by Manchester City, who had finished off last season on a major winning streak that ensured their victorious league campaign. The Cityzens created chances over and over again, forcing Spurs’ defenders to remain on high alert throughout. However, the Lilywhites had a clinical eye, turning two important chances into goals. Luck played its part with Lucas Moura heading home a goal 19 seconds into his substitute appearance and VAR disallowing Gabriel Jesus' winning goal. Tottenham know there is much work to be done before their Newcastle fixture.

Key players for Tottenham Hotspur

The top player for Spurs would be $66 million star midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. In their first game against Aston Villa, the 22-year-old put his name on the scoresheet with a driven shot from outside the box. In the next game at the Etihad Stadium, the youngster gave an assist for Erik Lamela to equalize three minutes after the hosts had scored.

Alongside Ndombele, Erik Lamela has been another player capable of turning the game around. He has also scored a long-distance goal, along with an assist in only two games. Harry Kane is a notable mention as he has scored two goals so far.
