Free Premier League picks Huddersfield Town vs. Watford

Huddersfield Town welcomes Watford on Saturday afternoon. The already relegated Terriers‘ season has been an ordeal. Indeed, they have collected only 14 points in 34 games. Additionally, they have not won a game since February and stay on a six-game losing streak. There has been little for fans to rejoice about. For instance, Huddersfield have also only scored 19 goals in the Premier League this season and conceded 67. Furthermore, they were eliminated from the two domestic cups in early stages against teams in lower divisions. They lost to Bristol City in the third round of the FA Cup, 1-0. In the second round of the Carabao Cup, Stoke, 16th in the Championship, snatched away a 2-0 win. The Terriers are already preparing next season in the Championship. Consequently, they have freewheeled their season for the past two months. Watford should gain three free points come Saturday.

Watford have had a fairly successful season so far. Indeed, the Hornets are at a respectable 10th place in the Premier League, one point behind 7th-placed Leicester. Additionally, they have qualified for the final of the FA Cup after a semi-final nail-biter against Wolverhampton. Watford came back from 2-0 down in the last ten minutes to face Manchester City in May at Wembley. Furthermore, their calendar is reasonably balanced to approach the highlight of their season with good preparation. Indeed, Watford have affordable games against Huddersfield and Southampton, as well as tougher games against Chelsea and Wolverhampton. In the Premier League, however, Watford stay on three losses in four games. These losses come, nevertheless, against members of the top six: Manchester United, City and Arsenal, last Monday. Despite their relative defensive struggles – 48 goals conceded this season -, Watford shouldn’t suffer too much on Saturday.

Huddersfield’s manager Jan Siewert should compose his team in a 4-2-3-1. Hamer, in goals should be protected by centre-backs Kongolo and Schindler. The full-backs could be Durm and Bacuna, unless Smith is preferred on the right. In that case, Bacuna could start in central midfield with ex-Hornet Hogg. The line of three in front of them will probably have Pritchard as CAM. The English midfielder has been holding the keys of play for the Terriers this season, albeit without great success. On the wings, Mooy and Löwe should start, ahead of Diakhaby and Kachunga. Karlan Grant, one of Huddersfield’s few satisfactions this season, is questionable to play. The 21 year-old netted three goals in nine matches in the Premier League and brings needed danger in attack. If he is in fact unavailable, Mounié should forefront the Terrier’s offence.

Javi Gracia should compose his team in his preferred 4-4-2. The Spanish tactician will not be able to count on Deeney, who was sent off against Arsenal. Additionally, Pereyra and Deulofeu could also join the Hornets’ list of unavailable players as both are questionable for Saturday. Ben Foster should start in goals with a line of Femenia, Kabasele, Cathcart and Masina in front of him. Capoue and Doucouré should form the heart of the midfield. Indeed, the French pair has been very solid this season and their athletic abilities have been integral to Watford’s system. On the right wing, Will Hughes should start with Pereyra on the left. In attack, Andre Gray should get the nod with either Deulofeu or Success.

Free Premier League schedule Watford vs. Huddersfield Town

The level of Huddersfield has been abysmal this season. It is difficult to imagine that they could win again before the end of the season. The Hornets have to prepare for their FA Cup final. Playing the Terriers should be an ideal match to bounce back from their Arsenal loss. Watford should earn a comfortable three points on Saturday.
