West Ham host the league leaders amidst a relegation battle while Liverpool hope to continue their incredible winning streak.
West Ham return to Premier League action after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship leaders West Bromwich Albion in a closely contested contest that saw the hosts fail to convert their chances and also fail to capitalise on being a man up for the final 18 minutes. The Premier League, as usual, has been no cakewalk either, with the Hammers having amassed just 12 points from their last 17 league fixtures, sacked their 'world-class' (as described by West Ham's largest shareholder) manager Manuel Pellegrini during that time and fallen to 17th place - above the drop zone only on goal difference. They have lost 3 in their last 4 matches including the aforementioned FA Cup elimination with their only win this month being a 4-0 defeat of fellow relegation candidates Bournemouth on New Year's day. That was David Moyes' first game in charge and they looked to have been on a 'new manager bounce', winning twice consecutively but have since returned to their losing ways. Hereon, every potential point will be vital for the Hammers to avoid relegation but they probably won't be expecting to steal a point from under the nose of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool who are yet unbeaten in the league this season.
Speaking of Liverpool, they have dropped just 2 points this season, having played 23 games and defeated every team in the league at least once barring West Ham whom they will face for the first time due to their last scheduled meeting being postponed due to Liverpool's participation in the FIFA Club World Cup. Though there is a long way to go for the end of the season, Liverpool seem to have already clinched the long awaited title and only a massive collapse might destroy their 16 point lead at the top. Liverpool have won each of their last 14 Premier League games after drawing 1-1 with Manchester United at Old Trafford back in late October. Klopp will be eager to face struggling West Ham and claim all 3 points to continue their unbelievable run towards a first Championship in 30 years.

Last Time Out
West Ham held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at home on matchday 25 last season with goals coming from Sadio Mane and Michail Antonio within the first half hour. Liverpool dominated possession but were hurt by West Ham on the counter as they had a similar number of chances to score. That result came during a poor run of form from Liverpool who conceded a decent lead at the top of the table to eventual champions Manchester City.
Sebastian Haller has been performing very well after his summer move from Eintracht Farnkfurt, leading his team in goals scored, with 6. He has made his name in the starting XI under both managers and Moyes will trust him to give his all against a rugged Liverpol defence. Declan Rice has also been crucial to this team, the midfielder having grabbed the attention of every top club in Europe and his ability to screen the defence will be vital to any hope of resisting the Liverpool attack.
