Fanduel Boxing Pick Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Luke Campbell

Vasyl Lomachenko will fight Luke Campbell in his quest to further unify the Lightweight Titles. Lomachenko will be defending his WBA and WBO Lightweight Titles and be fighting for the vacant WBC Lightweight Title. Lomachenko is 31, 5’7 and 134.5 lbs with a 65.5 inch reach. Campbell is 31, 5’9 and 134.25 lbs with a 71 inch reach. Lomachenko might be the greatest pound for pound fighter in the world. Lomachenko has uncommon speed and power that makes him nearly unbeatable. Most fighters can’t handle his ring and head movement.

Before starting boxing, Lomachenko came from a dancing background growing up in Ukraine and taking dancing classes, which helped him to have great footwork in the ring. Lomachenko is one of those special athletes that can do everything well. Lomachenko has great stamina, power, defensive skills and balance. At only 5’7 Lomachenko is compact and a tough fighter to hit and with the ability to throw combinations to both the head and body it makes him a dangerous opponent for any boxer. Lomachenko is coming off a 4th Round knockout win over Anthony Crolla. Crolla looked overmatched and couldn’t handle the speed and pressure that Lomachenko fights with. Lomachenko is the greatest lightweight (135 lbs) in the world and has an electric skillset that makes him a must watch whenever he enters the ring.

The fight is taking place in London, giving Campbell a British fighter, the home crowd advantage. Campbell is a decent lightweight with only two losses in his career. One of those losses came against Jorge Linares. Linares beat Campbell by split decision and won a close fight against the taller fighter because of his advantage in speed and ring activity. Lomachenko is a better version of Linares and can exploit Campbell’s weaknesses with his speed and punching power. Lomachenko also fought Linares, but won by 10th Round knockout after landing a beautiful right hook that followed a flurry of punches. Linares couldn’t handle the pressure and was stopped as Lomachenko continued his dominance over the division.

Fanduel Boxing Pick Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Luke Campbell

Campbell has 3 wins since losing to Linares and is coming off a 5th Round knockout win over Adrian Young. Campbell got the knockout after landing some powerful straight lefts over the top that caught Young clean and forced the stoppage. Against a slower opponent, Campbell looked great and set himself up nicely for this opportunity against Lomachenko. The key for Campbell is to not be a stationary target and keep moving. Campbell will have to use his jab to keep a smaller and quicker opponent at bay. Lomachenko can pick apart an opponent that just stands and waits for the action. Lomachenko and Campbell might be the same age, but Lomachenko is years ahead in skill level.

Lomachenko has great pressure and can keep a high pace for a full 12 Rounds because of his stamina. Campbell will have to dig deep to remain competitive against his toughest opponent to date. Lomachenko is the shorter fighter, but will gave a bigger target to aim at as Campbell is taller by 2 inches. This should be another win for Lomachenko and it is unlikely to go 12 Rounds. Lomachenko is simply in a different class than most fighters and should show this against Campbell once again. If Lomachenko can defeat Campbell he will further unify the Lightweight division and continue his dominance in the sport.
